It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not
the poet who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given
us the right to a fair trial, and it is the soldier----who salutes the flag, who serves the flag and
whose coffin is draped by the flag-----who allows the protester to burn the flag.

who he met on his deployment. He is my wonderful and loving
husband.  He is currently serving overseas in Afghanistan. We
are stationed in Ft. Drum, NY.  My husband is the most
awesome man ever and has made me realize just how
wonderful life can be.  He is truly an inspiration to make me a
better person. Todd is a crew cheif on Blackhawk helo's.  His
life long goal is to be a pilot on a helicopter.  He gives 150% in
his work and is dedicated to the Army. He is prior Marine Corps

hoping to go to Germany or Hawaii when he returns in Feb.

This is my Hero SPC Justin T Cook and his wife &
daughter (Justin, Melissa & Kaylee).  He is with the
8-10 Calvary attached to the 4th Infantry Division and
is now walking the streets of Baghdad and the girls
are deep in the heart of Texas.  I am proud of him and
the job he doing and the son, husband father and
man he has become.  I still look at him and see that
little toe-headed scamp that stole my heart so many
years ago.  I am also proud of my daughter-in-law for
the wonderful way she supports my son and raises
my granddaughter.  It takes a special kind of women
to love being a Soldiers wife and she makes it look
easy.  And of course I am so proud of my
granddaughter Kaylee she has become the light of my
life.  I see her Daddy in so many of the things she
does and says.  I live in Florida they are in Texas and
he is in Baghdad - - - so many miles but our love for
each other travels at the speed of thought and they are
in mine daily.  I love you JT!  Please, Come Home
Safe!
Sgt. Jacobus, Andrew

My son. My life.  Spending his 21st birthday in Iraq.
This is a picture of the day we had to say goodbye.
I want the world to know his family loves him so very
much and we are so proud of him and all of our troops
This is Sgt. Shawn M Settles. I devoted husband, father
of two and Proud American Soldier. We have been
through alot together so far. We got married April of
2003 at the ages of 19 and 20 and he was sent off a
month later to the chemical depot here in Indiana for 2
years. In those two years we have had one daughter,
dealt with a open heart surgery with her and got
pregnant with the our second daughter. Out of those two
years he has gotten to see us a total of 5  months worth
at the most. 5 months home from the Depot he was off
to Iraq for 18 months. He is a wonderful man, father and
soldier. I couldn't be more proud of him. He is doing
what he loves and with pride. He is about to come home
for his R&R and i am extremely excited. It has been a
hard long 3 years for us so far but we both understand
the price for freedom and what a being a soldier means.
I couldn't be more proud to call him my husband, the
father of my children, a wonderful soldier, and ofcourse
my hereo. My god watch over him and the many of other
men over there now and keep them safe. Always
remember that freedom isn't free. We must fight for what
we beleave in and be proud of the ones that are fighting
the fight for us.
We love you with all our heart honey. Come back safely.
Love, Katie

husband.  We are anxiously awaiting the day he
returns in August 2006 so we can hug him and kiss
him again.  We miss him with every minute that goes
by and we love him even more.
This is my beautiful husband, my life, my love, my

Your Loving Wife April
Sgt Steven G Tischer is not only my best friend but
one of the most dedicated soldiers I have  known. He
has the job as the local Army recruiter in Sidney Ohio.
He has dedicated his life to the United States Army he
has given 13 years to his service, and now shares his
story with young men and woman who are interested
in going into the service themselves. He gives 110%
to his job each and everyday!  When one of his recruits
need something to better serve them in there
upcoming career he is there for them. I have
personally got to see him do what he does best with
these kids and he is one of the most caring and giving
people I know.  To take time out to do a fundraiser on
his weekend of for the community he serves or go visit
local vets in a nursing home on Veterans day tells me
he loves the job he does. My Hero Steven G Tisher
Keep up the work that you love to do.
